It Is Hard Being a Tech Evangelist
Whenever anyone asks me what I do my response now is "Social Addict Community Assembler" which I must say is leaps and bounds better then "Social Media Manager." What I have said in the past is "Technology Evangelist" which simply put, confuses the hell out of most people. They worry about their church, their children and their faith however no one thinks about the Apple Newton. This is a classical mistake and needs to be rectified in everyone's mind when they get the good fortune to be in the company of a techno evangelist.
The Newton, if you don't know then feel free to read this in depth story, was Apple's attempt to create a tablet computer before anyone knew they even needed one. Unfortunately, there are still today a handfill of nay-sayers who still claim they do not want or need an Apple tablet. The Newton was perhaps so cool, some could say it was well within 20 years before it's prime, that people could do nothing, not even buy it. This is exactly how techno evangelists have to live although, some seem to have the good fortune to dodge the poor part. We are always perhaps 20 months or so a head of the main stream. Some people think this is called Moore's law but I would put this beast more in the lap of the much hated Ray Kuzweil (please take care to notice these are two separate links). Notie any reoccurring theme here? Yep, you guessed it right on. Technology evangelists are the least appreciated folks in the entire of realm of technology...ever. So if anyone tells you they are a techno evangelist in passing then simply smile, think about a tiny yet clunky apple computer, and remember that the world loves you more then it loves that person. Oh wait, you thought I had tied up everything and you could leave? Since when do I ever pull that shit? I would like to leave you with this. I would never give this title and consequent lifestyle up for anything in the world and neither should you. I wake up every morning psyched to see what is new and upcoming and how someday I can implement it into the world of business. It is a joy that is simply amazing and if you truly love technology / people / business then you should think hard about coming on board, we all would love to have you. Below is what I imagine "all the haters" think about when people tell them that they are tech evangelists.
